Holiday home in Søby, Ærø

Luxury holiday home on Ærø – comfort in Scandinavian style

What comfort on holiday means is different for everyone. At Dansk Cottage it stands for a good night’s sleep, warmth, space and materials that show someone has thought about them – without any fuss.

Visualisation of a bedroom at Dansk Cottage Visualisation – house under construction

Sleeping, cooking, sauna

A house feels high-quality when the basics are right. That is why Dansk Cottage makes no compromises on sleeping comfort, and has a generously equipped kitchen and a private sauna.

Design for living, not for display

For the interior we have chosen Scandinavian design: classics by Arne Jacobsen, Poul Henningsen and Alvar Aalto have their place, as do the dining chairs by Charles and Ray Eames. The aim is not a design museum but a homely, timeless atmosphere.

The personal story behind it – including the Floto family’s connection with the Danish designer Ole Palsby – is told on our design page.

A kitchen for food lovers

The kitchen includes a dishwasher, an ice maker, an air fryer and porcelain by Royal Copenhagen and Porsgrund. A pantry makes longer stays easier, and the kitchen opens onto the dining area and the terrace. More under kitchen.

Space, peace and privacy

The house stands on a natural plot of around 3,300 m² in Søby. The plot will have a natural garden with fruit trees and wildflowers, a large wooden terrace and several seating areas. An EV charger at the house charges your electric car.

Built sustainably

Dansk Cottage is being built as an ecological timber house on screw piles, with no concrete foundation at all. You can read the background under sustainability.

Still under construction – to be honest

The house is not finished yet, and the images are visualisations. We document how it grows in our building diary. If you would like to reserve early, you will find dates under prices & availability.
